Connected Vehicle Security Act of 2026

This bill bans the importing, making, selling, or distributing of internet-connected vehicles and their related software and hardware if those parts are linked to China, Russia, Iran, or North Korea. It builds on existing rules that already applied to China and Russia by adding Iran and North Korea to the list and by making clear that certain artificial intelligence parts are also covered. The Department of Commerce must publish a list by January 1, 2027, of specific items that are allowed exceptions to this ban, and the bill gives the government the power to fine anyone who breaks these rules.
