Household Goods Shipping Consumer Protection Act

This bill gives the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration new power to fine companies that violate rules about moving household goods across state lines. It requires moving companies, brokers who arrange moves, and freight forwarders to list a main business address where managers work and keep records. The bill also requires brokers and freight forwarders to reveal if they have ownership or family ties to other transportation companies, similar to what moving companies already must do. States can use certain federal grant money to enforce household goods transportation rules and keep any fines they collect.
