Promoting Police Leadership Act

This bill requires the Department of Justice to create or find training programs for higher-level police officers who oversee law enforcement operations in their areas. The training would cover topics like leadership, handling emergencies, officer well-being, using data to guide policing decisions, and building trust with the community. The Department of Justice must work with local law enforcement agencies, universities, and other groups to develop these training programs and set up a way to officially certify them. The Government Accountability Office is also required to review and report on how the training programs and certification process are being developed.
