Northern Montana Water Security Act of 2025

This bill approves a water rights agreement between the United States, Montana, and the Fort Belknap Indian Community, which includes the Gros Ventre and Assiniboine Tribes. The bill requires the community's water rights to be held in trust and mandates that the community create a tribal water code to manage these rights. It allows the Interior and Agriculture Departments to negotiate land exchanges with Montana, trading state lands for federal lands that would be held in trust for the community, but prohibits gaming on any exchanged land. The bill creates two trust funds to help carry out these activities and authorizes the Interior Department to build and maintain water and wastewater facilities for both the Fort Belknap community and the Blackfeet Tribe.
