Federal Initiative to Guarantee Health by Targeting Fentanyl Act

This bill would classify all fentanyl-related substances as schedule I drugs under the Controlled Substances Act, which is the category for drugs considered to have a high potential for abuse and no accepted medical use. These substances would be subject to the same legal controls and penalties as other schedule I drugs. At the same time, the bill would prevent courts from applying mandatory minimum prison sentences for certain drug crimes that involve fentanyl-related substances.
