Stop the Wait Act of 2025

This bill changes waiting periods for disability benefits and Medicare. Currently, people must wait five months after becoming disabled to start receiving Social Security Disability Insurance benefits, but this bill would gradually reduce that waiting time and eliminate it completely by 2030. The bill also removes the 24-month waiting period for Medicare coverage for certain disabled people who cannot afford other health insurance, allowing them to get Medicare right away when they qualify for disability benefits.
