Less Bureaucracy, Better Foreign Medical Accreditation Act

This bill moves the job of checking whether foreign medical schools meet certain standards from the Department of Education to the Department of Health and Human Services. A special committee already evaluates whether foreign medical schools have standards similar to those used by U.S. medical schools, and this bill shifts oversight of that committee, along with the staff and funding that support it, to HHS. The bill says the Office of Management and Budget must make sure this change does not increase the total number of employees at either department and must report to Congress that the rules of the bill are being followed. Any ongoing legal cases or pending applications related to these functions would not be affected by the transfer.
