Medicare Access to Rural Anesthesiology Act

This bill changes how Medicare pays anesthesiologists — the doctors who manage anesthesia during surgeries — at small rural hospitals. It says that Medicare must pay these doctors based on their actual costs if they work at rural hospitals or critical access hospitals that perform 800 or fewer surgeries needing anesthesia each year, though the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services could set that number higher.
