Improving Access to Transfusion Care for Hospice Patients Act of 2026

This bill requires a part of the federal government to test a new way of paying for blood transfusions for people in hospice care under Medicare. Right now, blood transfusions are included in the overall daily payment that hospice programs receive, but this bill would have them paid for separately as part of a test program. The government would then study whether this change affects things like how often patients end up in the hospital and how long they receive hospice care before the end of life.
