Daycare Not Detentions Act of 2026

This bill would take away $70 billion that was given to immigration enforcement agencies (ICE and CBP) through the Secure America Act and move that same amount of money to federal child care programs instead. The $70 billion would be split among several programs: $25.5 billion for the Child Care and Development Block Grant, $20 billion for the Child Care Entitlement to States, $24 billion for Head Start, and $500 million for Preschool Development Grants. The money given to these child care programs would be available to use through the end of the 2029 fiscal year.
