SWAT Act of 2026

This bill requires a government agency that deals with plant and animal health to set up a special fund. The money would go toward research and efforts to reduce the harm caused by a type of invasive insect from East Asia called the spotted wing drosophila. This insect has caused major damage to berry and stone fruit crops in the United States, including raspberries, blackberries, blueberries, strawberries, peaches, plums, and cherries.
