Offshore Energy Security Act of 2025

This bill requires the Department of the Interior to hold two sales per year for 10 years to lease areas in the Gulf of Mexico for offshore oil and gas drilling, with each sale offering at least 74 million acres. The bill sets rules for how these sales must be carried out and limits the ability of lawsuits related to environmental reviews to stop or delay them. At the same time, the bill extends a ban on oil and gas leasing through 2035 in certain protected areas, including parts of the Gulf of Mexico near Florida's coastline, the South Atlantic Planning Area, and the Straits of Florida Planning Area.
