Meat and Poultry Special Investigator Act of 2025

This bill creates a new office within the Department of Agriculture called the Office of the Special Investigator for Competition Matters. That office would be responsible for investigating and taking legal action against meat packers and poultry dealers who break the rules of a law called the Packers and Stockyards Act, which is meant to ensure fair competition, protect farmers and ranchers, and prevent unfair or monopolistic practices in the meat and poultry industry. The new office would have tools like subpoenas to carry out investigations and would also work with the Department of Justice, the Federal Trade Commission, and the Department of Homeland Security on issues related to competition and security in the food and agriculture sector.
