GOSAFE Act

This bill would make it illegal to import, sell, make, transfer, receive, or possess certain gas-operated semiautomatic firearms and devices that increase how fast a semiautomatic firearm can fire. It would also ban the import, sale, manufacture, transfer, or receipt of large capacity ammunition feeding devices, and ban possession of any such devices made after the bill becomes law. Breaking these rules could result in a fine, up to 12 months in prison, or both, and anyone caught with a banned firearm while committing a federal felony would face at least two years in prison. The bill would also let state and local governments use certain federal grant money to run buy-back programs where people can turn in these firearms and devices for compensation.
