Conservation Reserve Enhancement Program Improvement Act of 2025

This bill makes changes to a government program called the Conservation Reserve Enhancement Program (CREP), which pays farmers to take environmentally sensitive land out of farming to help protect the environment. The bill adds dryland farming and grazing as approved activities under the program and lets landowners choose how their payments are spread out over the years of their agreement instead of getting a fixed amount each year. It also sets specific payment rates for agreements involving drought and water conservation, especially when farmers permanently give up their water rights, and applies some of these payment rules to certain existing agreements. Additionally, the bill removes the $50,000 yearly cap on payments that farmers can receive through this program.
