Tribal Access to Electronic Evidence Act

This bill gives tribal courts the same power as state courts and other government bodies to require phone companies, email providers, social media platforms, and cloud computing services to turn over stored electronic communications and customer records. Currently, the law allows government entities to get this information using warrants, court orders, or subpoenas, but tribal courts have not had this same authority. This bill changes that by including tribal courts among the courts that can issue these orders to access electronic evidence.
