DRIVE Act

This bill stops the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration from creating any rules that would require big trucks and other large commercial vehicles to have devices that limit how fast they can go. The types of vehicles covered include those weighing over 10,001 pounds, buses carrying passengers for pay, larger buses carrying more than 15 people, and vehicles hauling certain amounts of hazardous materials. The agency had already started working on a proposed rule about speed limiters in May 2022, and this bill would block that effort.
