Drone Espionage Act

This bill updates the Espionage Act to include video as one of the ways someone can illegally obtain, receive, or share information related to national defense. Currently, the law covers things like photographs, maps, blueprints, and written notes, but it does not specifically mention video. Under this bill, anyone who uses video to gather or share national defense information in a way that could harm the United States or help a foreign country could face a fine, up to 10 years in prison, or both — the same penalties that already exist under the Espionage Act.
