Northwest Energy Security Act

This bill says that the dams on the Columbia and Snake Rivers in Oregon, Washington, Montana, and Idaho must be operated according to a 2020 decision that focuses on how the dams are run and maintained, rather than a newer 2023 plan and a 2024 proposal that focus on restoring wild fish in the area. The agencies in charge of these dams can only change from the 2020 plan if they decide changes are needed for public safety or keeping the power grid working, or if certain parts of the plan are no longer needed. The bill also says that Congress must give approval before any changes can be made that would reduce the amount of electricity these dams produce or limit boat traffic on the Snake River.
