LICENSE Act of 2025

This bill requires the federal agency that oversees commercial trucking to loosen some rules around testing for commercial driver's licenses (CDLs). It would let certain already-certified driving test examiners also give the written knowledge test after completing a short training unit, and it would allow any state to give a driving skills test to a CDL applicant even if that person lives in a different state or trained in a different state. During the COVID-19 pandemic, similar rule changes were temporarily allowed, but those temporary exceptions have ended.
