Protecting Individuals with Down Syndrome Act

This bill makes it a federal crime for someone to perform an abortion on an unborn child because the child has Down syndrome. A person who breaks this law could face a fine, up to five years in prison, or both. The bill also allows for civil lawsuits, including money damages and court orders. However, the woman who has the abortion cannot be charged with a crime or sued under this law.
