REMOTE Act

This bill would require federal agencies to track how employees use their work computer networks, including how often they log in, how long they stay connected, and how much network activity they generate. Agencies would need to collect this data for both in-office and teleworking employees and publish comparisons between the two groups in their budget documents. If a manager takes away an employee's permission to work from home because of that specific employee's behavior, the manager must document the reasons and any discipline steps taken beforehand. Agencies would also have to report on whether telework policies are causing any problems with the agency's performance.
