CLEAR Path Act

This bill would stop certain former high-level presidential appointees in the executive branch from working for or advising specific foreign countries — such as China, Iran, North Korea, or Russia — if their goal is to influence decisions made by U.S. government officials. The ban covers people who served as the head or deputy head of a department or agency, or in other positions that required Senate confirmation, and it only applies to those appointed after the bill becomes law. The ban would last for five years after the bill is passed. The bill also sets up a way for the State Department to suggest changes to the list of restricted countries, with Congress having the final say on any updates.
