Save Our Seas 2.0 Amendments Act

This bill extends funding through 2029 for a government program run by NOAA that works to study and clean up trash and debris in the ocean, which can hurt the economy, sea life, and ship safety. It also makes changes to how the Marine Debris Foundation is run, including renaming its top leader as the Chief Executive Officer and giving the foundation's board more power over hiring and firing that person. The bill requires the foundation to reach out to Indian tribes and tribal governments and says the foundation's main office must be located in the Washington, D.C., area or a coastal community. It also allows the foundation to accept matching contributions from regional groups, Indian tribes, tribal organizations, and foreign governments.
