Strengthening Protections for Domestic Violence and Stalking Survivors Act of 2025

This bill would expand the list of people who are not allowed to have guns or ammunition under federal law. Right now, certain people convicted of domestic violence crimes or under domestic violence protection orders already face these restrictions, but this bill would add people convicted of misdemeanor stalking crimes, which involve harassment, intimidation, or surveillance that causes emotional distress or makes someone fear for their safety. It would also expand existing gun restrictions to cover people under protection orders related to current or former dating partners, not just spouses or people they live with. Finally, it would extend gun restrictions to people who commit a domestic violence crime against the child of someone they are dating or recently dated.
