Acequia Communities Empowered by Qualifying Upgrades for Infrastructure Act

This bill says that farmers who use acequias — which are community-run water irrigation ditch systems — can get help through a federal crop disaster assistance program if their crops are damaged by drought, floods, or other natural disasters. It also removes the requirement for special permits to use or maintain these acequia systems on federal land managed by the Department of Agriculture or the Department of the Interior. Additionally, the Department of Agriculture must send a report to Congress about the farmers who depend on these acequia systems.
