Sound Insulation Treatment Repair and Replacement Program Act

This bill creates a test program that would let up to four airports use federal airport improvement money to fix or replace soundproofing that was previously installed in nearby homes. Right now, airports can only use these federal funds to install soundproofing one time, but this bill would give certain airports a one-time pass to use the funds again for repairs or replacements. To qualify, the original soundproofing must have been installed before 2002 and must be falling apart, and the homeowner and airport must have already tried to cover the costs through warranties, insurance, or legal options.
