WEATHER Act of 2025

This bill requires the federal crop insurance program to research and create a new type of insurance policy that would protect farmers across all states, U.S. territories, and Washington, D.C., against income losses caused by severe weather like droughts, floods, extreme heat, wildfires, hail, and high winds. Instead of farmers having to file individual claims, payments would automatically be triggered when weather conditions in an area hit a certain level, such as a specific amount of rainfall. The program must hold meetings to get feedback from farmers and insurance agents, and it must publish a public report on its findings and any recommendations to Congress.
