GUARD Act

This bill lets state, local, and tribal law enforcement agencies use money from certain federal grant programs to investigate financial fraud, including scams targeting older people and a type of scam called "pig butchering," where someone is tricked over time into sending more and more money, usually as cryptocurrency, into a fake investment. It also allows federal law enforcement to help state, local, and tribal agencies use special tools to track transactions on blockchain technology. Additionally, the bill requires the Department of the Treasury and the Financial Crimes Enforcement Network to produce reports on efforts to fight these types of fraud and scams, including information about crimes committed and what the federal government is doing to address them.
