Tim’s Act

This bill raises pay for federal wildland firefighters who work for the Department of Agriculture, the Department of the Interior, or tribal governments, with bigger pay increases for those at lower pay levels. It also creates extra pay for firefighters sent away from their normal work locations to respond to long-lasting fires. Beyond pay, the bill provides new benefits including paid time off for rest and recovery, housing allowances, tuition assistance, and the ability to count certain past work toward retirement. It also requires faster handling of workers' compensation claims for stress-related injuries tied to firefighting, sets up programs to help families of firefighters who are seriously hurt or killed on the job, and supports firefighters' mental and physical health.
