Congressional Award Program Reauthorization Act

This law keeps the Congressional Award Program running through 2028. The program, which has been around since 1979, gives medals to young people ages 14 to 23 who meet goals in areas like community service, personal growth, and physical fitness. The law also changes the rules about what materials the medals have to be made from, removing specific requirements about bronze, gold-plate, and rhodium. The renewal is set to take effect as if it started on October 1, 2023, when the previous funding approval ran out.
