Shutdown Fairness Act

This bill would make sure that federal employees who are required to keep working during a government shutdown get paid on time, instead of having to wait until the shutdown ends to receive their paychecks. It covers regular pay, benefits, and other payments for these workers. The bill also includes certain contractors who support federal workers during a shutdown and members of the military on active duty. If passed, the bill would apply as if it had been signed into law on September 30, 2025.
