Birthright Citizenship Act of 2025

This bill would change the rules for who automatically becomes a U.S. citizen by being born in the United States. Right now, almost anyone born on U.S. soil is a citizen, but this bill would limit that so a baby born in the U.S. would only be a citizen if at least one parent is a U.S. citizen or national, a legal permanent resident living in the U.S., or a non-citizen serving in the U.S. military with lawful status. The bill would not change the citizenship of anyone already born before it becomes law.
