COAL Act of 2025

This bill requires the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) to move forward on pending applications from companies that want to lease federal land to mine coal. It sets out specific steps the BLM must take, including completing environmental reviews, determining the fair market value of the coal, and ultimately approving the applications. The bill also requires the BLM to grant any additional approvals needed for mining to begin on coal leases that were already awarded. Additionally, it cancels a previous government order that had paused most new federal coal leases while a review of the federal coal program was being conducted.
