Graduate Opportunity and Affordable Loans Act

This bill would stop graduate and professional students from being able to get a type of federal loan called a Direct PLUS Loan. Schools would have to let their graduate and professional students know that these loans will end on June 30, 2025. The bill also sets new borrowing limits for a different type of federal loan: graduate students could borrow up to $65,000 and professional students up to $130,000, not counting what they borrowed for their undergraduate education. Schools would be allowed to set lower borrowing limits if they choose.
