CARE Act of 2025

This bill requires a government health agency to test a five-year program where Medicare would pay for ground ambulance services even when the ambulance responds to an emergency call but does not end up taking the patient to a hospital. Right now, Medicare generally only pays for ambulance services when a patient is actually transported. Under this program, the payment rates would be similar to what ambulances normally get paid when they do transport someone. The bill also requires a government report on how well Medicare patients can access emergency medical services and how this new program affects their care.
