ANCHOR Act

This bill requires the National Science Foundation to create a plan to improve internet, communications, and cybersecurity on U.S. research ships used by scientists, educators, and students to study the ocean. The plan must look at what upgrades are needed, how much they would cost, how long they would take, and how the costs would be shared among federal agencies, ship owners, and users. It must also consider things like the ability to send research data back to land, international security standards, and rules for handling sensitive information. The plan would need to be sent to Congress within one year after the bill becomes law.
