Background Check Expansion Act

This bill would require that when regular people (not gun dealers) sell or give a firearm to another person, a licensed gun dealer, manufacturer, or importer must first take the firearm and run a background check on the person receiving it. There are some exceptions, such as when a spouse gives a firearm as a gift to their husband or wife. Right now, private sales between individuals do not always require a background check, and this bill would change that.
