American Music Fairness Act

This bill would require traditional radio stations to get a license and pay fees to play copyrighted music recordings. Right now, regular (non-internet) radio stations generally don't have to pay for this, but the bill would change that. A government board would set the payment amounts, taking into account how radio play affects other ways artists earn money from their recordings. Smaller radio stations that earn less money would be allowed to pay a simpler flat fee instead of the standard rate.
