Metastatic Breast Cancer Access to Care Act

This bill would let people with metastatic breast cancer — breast cancer that has spread to other parts of the body — get disability payments and Medicare coverage faster. Right now, people who qualify for Social Security Disability Insurance have to wait 5 months before they start getting payments, and then another 24 months before they can get Medicare. This bill removes both of those waiting periods for people with metastatic breast cancer, so they can receive benefits and health coverage right away.
