Brownfields Reauthorization Act of 2025

This bill extends the Brownfields Program through 2030. The Brownfields Program is run by the EPA and gives money and support to states, communities, tribes, and other groups to assess, clean up, and reuse polluted properties. The bill makes several changes, including allowing more types of nonprofit organizations to participate, increasing the maximum cleanup grant to $1 million per site, lowering the amount that grant recipients have to pay out of their own pocket from 20% to 10%, and requiring that cost-sharing requirements be dropped entirely for small communities or disadvantaged areas. It also requires the EPA to consider whether grant applicants have a plan to involve local community groups affected by the cleanup project.
