SWAT Act of 2026

This bill requires a government agency that deals with plant and animal health to create a fund for researching and fighting the spotted wing drosophila, an invasive insect from East Asia. This insect has caused major damage to berry and stone fruit crops in the United States, including raspberries, blackberries, blueberries, strawberries, peaches, plums, and cherries. The fund would support both research and efforts to reduce the harm this insect causes.
