Self-Initiation Trade Enforcement Act of 2026

This bill creates a special team within the Department of Commerce to look for unfair trade practices by foreign countries. These practices include selling imported products in the U.S. at unfairly low prices (called "dumping") or using government money to give foreign companies an unfair advantage (called "subsidies"). The team would also watch for foreign companies trying to get around existing rules meant to stop these unfair practices. Based on what it finds, the team would recommend whether the government should open investigations into these issues.
