Forever Chemical Regulation and Accountability Act of 2026

This bill aims to gradually stop the use and release of certain long-lasting chemicals called PFAS, sometimes known as "forever chemicals." It requires companies that make or use these chemicals to file yearly reports and to completely stop all nonessential uses within 10 years. The bill also requires federal agencies to stop buying products that contain PFAS when possible, allows the EPA to punish violations with civil or criminal penalties, and lets regular citizens file lawsuits against companies or the EPA over PFAS-related issues. It also includes rules about how PFAS-related legal claims are handled in bankruptcy cases.
