Livestock Consolidation Research Act of 2026

This bill requires the Department of Agriculture's Economic Research Service to put out a report about how the livestock industry — including beef, dairy, pork, and poultry — has become more concentrated, meaning fewer and bigger companies control more of the market. The report must come out within one year after the Census of Agriculture is made public, which happens every five years. The report has to cover changes in the size and location of ranches, farms, processing facilities, and packers across the country, and how those changes affect farmers, ranchers, and consumers.
