Perinatal Workforce Act

This bill creates programs to make the group of health care workers who care for pregnant women and new mothers more diverse. It requires the Department of Health and Human Services to give out grants for education and training in these fields, and to share guidance on providing respectful care during pregnancy and childbirth, including hiring care providers from different backgrounds. The National Institutes of Health would study the best ways to provide maternity care that respects patients' cultural values, beliefs, and languages. The bill also requires a report looking at what makes it hard for low-income women and minority women to enter careers in pregnancy and childbirth health care.
