Extending WIC for New Moms Act

This bill would let women stay eligible for the WIC nutrition assistance program for a longer time after having a baby. Right now, breastfeeding women can receive WIC benefits for up to one year after giving birth, but this bill would let states extend that to up to two years. It would also let postpartum women receive benefits for up to two years after their pregnancy ends, instead of the current six months. The bill also requires the Department of Agriculture to report to Congress on how these changes affect the health of mothers and babies, breastfeeding rates, and families' experiences with the program.
