Voter Empowerment Act of 2026

This bill makes several changes to how people register to vote and cast their ballots. It requires states to offer online voter registration, automatic voter registration, same-day registration, and registration for people under 18. It also requires states to allow early voting, voting by mail, and the use of ballot drop boxes, and it makes it easier for people with disabilities to vote by absentee ballot. The bill says people who have been convicted of a crime can still vote in federal elections unless they are currently serving a felony sentence, and it makes the Election Assistance Commission a permanent agency with the ability to give states money to set up these new systems.
