Ensuring Accountability and Dignity in Government Contracting Act of 2025

What this bill does

AI plain-language summary

This bill sets new rules for companies and organizations that receive large federal contracts, grants, or agreements worth more than $500,000 for work done outside the United States. Right now, these recipients must have a plan to prevent human trafficking, but this bill would require them to actually share that plan with the government and report any trafficking activities — including what happened and what steps were taken to fix the problem. The bill also requires government inspectors to investigate any reported trafficking activities. If a recipient fails to take proper action to fix the problem, the government must stop payments to them, whereas under current law, stopping payments is just optional.
