FLEX Act

This bill makes changes to a federal program that gives money to help charter schools get started and grow. It lets charter schools use that funding for more things than before, like hiring teachers beyond just the planning phase, making building repairs, paying for student transportation on an ongoing basis, and adding new academic programs that allow more students to enroll. The bill also requires the Department of Education to use some of the program's money for specific purposes, such as increasing seats in charter schools that serve rural students and students with disabilities, and to talk with charter school operators before proposing new rules that affect charter schools.
